DayZ – Day 7

Uphill Struggle

It was morning now, the sun was out and I could find my way.

I made my way to a small hill in the hope that the higher ground would aid my navigation.

In the distance I could see a huge town. With what seemed like a dockyard close by. I wondered if there were boats on the game, I pictured myself on a speedboat powering past zombies at super speeds. I continued on towards the dock.

I expertly avoided the zombies along the way. I was also aware that, as per usual, I was running very low on ammo. When I reached the dock it soon became apparent that there was going to be no form of vessel let alone a speedboat available to me.

Annoyed, I ventured further into the town, weapon drawn. I discovered a small building and entered. Again, the house had no ammo or food. It seems that the devs decided they were going too easy on their survivors and made the resources a lot more scarce.

I like this. I didn’t like it at the time, because I was surrounded by zombies with very little ammo. But as I said at the beginning of my journey, the games ultimate strength is not the zombie enemies but the extreme survival aspect.

While I was pondering this  I hadn’t noticed the zombies that had crept up behind me. I swung around and took a few of them out but this only seemed to alert the other members of the zombie army to my presence. I had no choice but to run.

I ran through the narrow streets, zig-zaged between buildings and burnt out cars. Nothing I did however would shake these zombies off my tail. I turned around and shot one, then continued running. I repeated this a few times. But eventually I was overwhelmed.

The only thing I could do, in the end, was turn and fight. I swivelled and started firing…

I didn’t last very long.
