DayZ – Day 5

Forlorn Hope

The last post ended with me and my friend Marty stranded on the roof of a deserted building which was, in turn, surrounded by zombies. What I didn’t mention was that all the zombies that we had expertly avoided were now making their way towards our building.

It was at this point that Marty said the words that I will never forget…

“I’ll distract them.” he said calmly.

“Okay.” I said. Not really thinking about what he said.

Then I realised and swung around just in time to see him jump off the roof firing his pistol. I sprinted over to where he had jumped and looked down. He was alive but he couldn’t move, he was injured badly (when you are incapacitated you can no longer voice chat). The zombies had heard the commotion and started moving slowly towards him. I sprinted to the ladder and looked down at the ground. All of the zombies had gone.

I took this chance to climb down the ladder. I moved towards the corner of the building, I couldn’t see Marty at this point. I peeked around the corner just in time to see three zombies reach his body. I turned and slowly walked away, quietly so I didn’t alert any of the zombies.

I must’ve walked for only about 10ft before I stopped, took out my pistol, turned around a ran in the direction of the zombies. I took the three zombies that were next to Marty out with headshots. This alerted the other thirty zombies to my presence, but I had to at least try and rescue Marty.

I couldn’t. He was already dead by the time I got to him.

By now I was surrounded by zombies and they had started sprinting at me. I managed to take six of the bastards with me before I died.
