DayZ – Day 2

 A New Beginning.

OK, so previously on my DayZ adventure I was brutally murdered by a bandit. Annoying.

When you die you are respawned in a random location somewhere on Chernarus, you lose all of your previously hard fought for items and weapons. Luckily, I was killed so quickly that I hadn’t had time to gather many supplies.  I decided to do it properly this time, don’t trust anyone.

Again I started on a beach. It looked very similar to my previous starting point. I moved up the beach, as I did last time, to check for the long road which I had previously followed. This time there was no road. But I could see railway track in the distance. I stuck to the trees and followed the track, for what seemed like 20 minutes. This is when I happened upon a small building with bodies scattered all around it. I slowly approached the building, constantly looking around for anyone (or thing).

I finally reached the door to the building. I entered VERY slowly. Empty. I was relieved, but I was also struck with a strange feeling of loneliness . It’s almost as if I wanted someone to be in there, human or zombie. It didn’t matter. The feeling could easily have been mistaken for boredom, but it truly wasn’t. I was enthralled by the game.

I noticed something in the corner of the room and moved over to check it out. It was a rifle, I had found my first weapon. A Winchester rifle. Lovely stuff, I picked it up and equipped it. I felt so much safer with it now.

Suddenly, I heard a gun shot. I swung around, rifle raised. I could hear a groaning sound. I’ve played enough video games to know it was the sound a zombie makes.

I got down on one knee and steadied my aim at the only entrance to the building I was in. I sat there for what felt like 5 minutes. Nothing. No more sound.

I stood up and moved towards the door. Still no sound.

I nervously opened the door…

What I saw was both hilarious and shocking at the same time.

I saw a man running incredibly fast towards me, about 200ft away, being chased by 3 zombies running at a similar speed. I had no idea these zombies could sprint. I was scared now.
